The whole herbal St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum L.) contains:
1) naphthodianthrones: which are Hypericin, Pseudohypericin, Protohypericin, Protopseudohypericin, Cyclopseudohypericin, Isohypericin, Emodin-anthrone, Hypericode-hydrodianthrone etc.
2)Flavonoids: including Kampferol Luteolin, Myricetin, Quercetin, Quercitrin, Isoquercitrin, 3)Hyperin/Hyperoside etc. Hyperforin substance: Hyperforin Adhyperforin etc.
The St. John's Wort Extract (also called as Hypericum Perforatum Extract) powder (Hypericins) is extracted from tips and tops in flowering or aerial parts, all our extracted are extracted by ethanol (food grade). Our material comes from a special producing area, which can guarantee the high quality to produce higher content of Hypericin.
Hypericin (Molecular Formula: C30H16O8, Molecular Weight: 504.43
CAS NO. 548-04-9)
is a naphthodianthrone, an anthraquinone derivative which, together with hyperforin, is one of the principal active constituents of Hypericum (Saint John's wort) Hypericin is believed to act as an antibiotic, antiviral and non-specific kinase inhibitor. Hypericin may inhibit the action of the enzyme dopamine β-hydroxylase, leading to increased dopamine levels, although thus possibly decreasing norepinephrine and epinephrine.
