Pyrethrum is the only intensively cultivated insecticidal plant in the world. Its flowers contain highly effective insecticidal active substances, commonly known as pyrethrins, which are composed of six structurally similar compounds. Since pyrethrins are of natural origin, they are easily degraded in nature, have no record of accumulation in humans and animals, and are not passed along the food chain. Therefore, they are recognized by WHO and FAO as the safest and most effective insecticidal substances.
